Contained Use of GMOs and pathogens
Competent Authorities in the Brussels Region

The contained use of genetically modified and/or pathogenic organisms (including contained uses of clinical trials for gene therapy or gene vaccination) is regulated in Belgium at the regional level. Regions are responsible for the follow-up of administrative procedures, for authorisations and for inspections. The scientific evaluation is made in a centralized way by the Biosafety and Biotechnology Unit .

Before carrying on any contained use activity, please contact the Biosafety and Biotechnology Unit .
