Containment measures The trials will be done in accordance with to the Belgian protocol for transgenic sugar beets (valid for the year 1999).
Monitoring measures After the trial the field will be monitored during 2 seasons. Sugar beets are only tested during the vegetative stage. Bolters and volunteer plants will be destroyed.
Status - The Biosafety Advisory Council a.i. issued a positive advice (with conditions) for this field trial. - Authorization procedure completed. The notifier was granted authorization from the Federal Minister to perform the trial.

Notes Same dossier as dossier B/BE/94/W14. The programme was already done in Belgium under the notification number B/BE/93/V21. The company decided not to execute the field trial in 1999.
