herbicide tolerance (glufosinate)
Seed production is carried out under physical containment conditions (greenhouse or pollen-free cages). According to the Belgian protocol for transgenic chicory valid for the year 2001 an isolation border of 5 m (e.g. ryegras) needs to be guaranteed. If harvest of the trial is planned after the start of the traditional dig up campaign, an additional isolation distance of 25 m to neighbouring Chicorium species need to be applied. Chicory is only tested during the vegetative stage. No flowering allowed.
After harvest potential volunteer plants will be destroyeded. The way of monitoring the trials is still under discussion.
Authorization procedure completed. The notifier was granted authorization from the Federal Minister to perform the trial.
The trials need to be executed in accordance with the protocol of chicory valid for the year 2001. All the operations conducted during the trial will be recorded in a logbook, according to this protocol.
