“Moving to Sustainable Agriculture – how can biotechnology help?”

The programme will cover the following thematic blocks:

I. New tools for the Integrated Production toolbox and the food system
II. Environmental risks and benefits of biotechnological applications in agriculture
III. Regulatory challenges of biotechnological applications in agriculture
IV. Interface between modern biotechnology and society and economy

A broad range of biotechnological applications will be discussed, such as classical gene technology, genome editing, genetic control including gene drives, RNAi, biologicals, and synthetic biology. Pesentations on risk communication, open data, integrated pest management, and agroecology are also foreseen.

Short event description

Meeting of the working group "Modern Biotechnology in Integrated Plant Production" of the International Organisation for Biological and Integrated Control (IOBC-WPRS). The working group aims to present a platform for exchange of research results and to stimulate collaborative projects dealing with biotechnological applications including GMOs in agriculture, their potential for integrated production systems, and their impact on the environment.
